Well, it did not go too well; not as I was hoping, anyway. Looking back, these might be the reasons:
1. Just like with everything else, implementing new idea(s) takes time. It was not enough to simply show the site to the students once and then expect them to come back (even for the homework!) 2. As we all know, the content is the key (and to build it takes time. A lot of time!) 3. In order to become an important part of the course, this site will have to be integrated into the course curriculum and lesson planning (on a regular basis!) With that in mind, I am starting a new session....Reflection to follow! This semester I decided to try something new, and this site is the outcome! My goal is to create an interactive and accessible learning environment that will allow my current, past, and future students to 1) have an access to all the course and individual lessons materials, 2) find useful resources, 3) check the homework and other important course information, 4) showcase and share their work, and 5) have fun! My other vision is that this project will take the students' learning to another level: i.e., they will be able to utilize their devices in the way they may not have utilized before, but it is something they will be required to know-how in the future: demonstrate a different, more professional or academic digital literacy. |
